C licence — Rigid lorries under 7.5 t

The C licence can be obtained from age 18 with a theory and practical test.

Vehicles you may drive with a C licence

• Goods vehicles with an authorised mass over 3500 kg, including while towing a light trailer (up to 750 kg)
• Exceptional work machines such as cranes or excavators

To drive lorries professionally you also need Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) for goods.

CE licence — Articulated / heavy trailer

Vehicles you may drive with a CE licence

CE covers combinations of a category C tractor unit with a trailer or semi-trailer whose authorised mass exceeds 750 kg.

For professional use of these combinations you also need Driver CPC for goods.
